# Reset a password

> Reset a user's password — send a link valid for 30 minutes or set the password manually; users changing their own password.

  - For the link method, email settings (**Yönetim › Özelleştirme › Genel › E-posta Ayarları** — Administration › Customization › General › Email Settings).

## Steps

1. On the **Yönetim › Kullanıcı ve Roller › Kullanıcılar** (Administration › Users and Roles › Users) screen, select **İşlemler › Şifre** (Actions › Password) on the user's row.

   1. Reset link valid for 30 minutes
   2. Manual password — you hand it over
   3. Must change at first login
   4. Save — sets the manual password

2. **Recommended method:** in the **Sıfırlama bağlantısı gönder** (Send reset link) section, click **Bağlantı Gönder** (Send Link). A link valid for 30 minutes is sent to the user; the user sets the password and you do not see it.

3. **If there is no email:** enter a password of at least 8 characters in the **Yeni Şifre (elle belirle)** (New Password (set manually)) field. Leave **İlk girişte şifre değiştirilmesi zorunlu olsun** (Require password change at first sign-in) checked.

4. Click **Kaydet** (Save) and pass the password to the user through a secure channel. When finished, click **Kapat** (Close).

**Result:** With a manually set password, the user first sees the **Parolanızı değiştirin** (Change your password) screen at sign-in. When the password changes, the user's open session ends on the next request and they must sign in with the new password.

## Users on their own

- **Parolamı unuttum** (Forgot my password; sign-in screen): enter the email address and click **Sıfırlama Bağlantısı
  Gönder** (Send Reset Link) → "Talebiniz alındı." (Your request has been received.) The link opens the **Yeni parola
  belirleyin** (Set a new password) page: **Yeni parola** (New password), **Yeni parola (tekrar)** (New password
  (again)) → **Parolamı Güncelle** (Update My Password).
- A signed-in user changes their password in the **Şifre Değiştir** (Change Password) section of **Profil** (Profile):
  **Mevcut Şifre** (Current Password), **Yeni Şifre** (New Password), **Yeni Şifre (Tekrar)** (New Password (Again)) →
  **Şifreyi Güncelle** (Update Password).

## What you need to know

- Sending a link does not unlock the account; for a locked account, also [unlock the account](https://erpdocs.corexlogic.com/en/yonetim/islemler/kilit-kaldirma)
  or wait for the lock to expire (15 minutes).
- If the reset link is incomplete or corrupted, the page says "Bu bağlantı eksik ya da bozuk." (This link is incomplete
  or corrupted.); for an expired link, send a new one.
- If the email could not be sent, the server's error text appears in the window; check the email settings or set the
  password manually.
- If you set your own password in this window, the requirement to change it at first sign-in is not applied.
- A link can be sent even while the license is in read-only mode.
