# Assign a role to a unit

> Assign a role to a unit in the organization chart — everyone attached to the unit automatically receives the role's permissions.

- **Prerequisites:**
  - The unit is defined (**Yeni Birim** (New Unit) or **Alt birim ekle** (Add sub-unit), `organization.create`).
  - The users are attached to the unit (in the unit tree or via **Kullanıcıyı Düzenle › Organizasyon Birimi** (Edit User › Organizational Unit)).

Instead of assigning a role to each person in the same team individually, you can assign the role to the unit.

## Steps

1. Open the **Yönetim › Özelleştirme › Kuruluş Yapısı › Organizasyon Şeması** (Administration › Customization › Organizational Structure › Organization Chart) screen.

   1. New Unit — company, department, team
   2. Everyone in a unit gets the unit's roles
   3. Users not assigned to a unit

2. In the **Birimler** (Units) tree, select **Rolleri yönet** (Manage roles) from the **İşlemler** (Actions) menu on the unit's row.

3. Turn on the switch of each role to be assigned to the unit and turn off the switch of each role to be removed.

4. Click **Kaydet** (Save).

**Result:** Every user attached to the unit automatically inherits the permissions of the selected roles; the change applies to all members immediately ("Bu birime bağlanan kullanıcı, seçili rollerin izinlerini otomatik devralır. ## What you need to know

- Only the user's **own unit** counts. A role assigned to a parent unit is not passed down to a person in a sub-unit;
  assign the role to each unit separately.
- Roles that come from the unit do not appear in the **Roller** (Roles) column of the **Kullanıcılar** (Users) list. When
  you are looking for the reason why a person holds a permission, check their unit as well.
- The user selected as the unit's **Yönetici** (Manager) automatically receives the permission to view and edit
  service calls.
- The segregation of duties warning appears only in the user window, for roles assigned directly to the person;
  monitor conflicts created through unit roles yourself.
