# Open a physical inventory count

> Select the count scope by warehouse, storage location, category and ABC class and start the count — the scope is frozen.

- **Prerequisites:**
  - The warehouse and storage location are active; there is no open count overlapping the scope.
  - The people concerned have been informed that no movements will be posted for the products in scope during the count.

The count document is the record of the physical inventory count. As soon as it is opened, the scope is frozen, so
the ledger does not change during the count.

## Steps

1. On the **Stok Yönetimi › Fiziksel Envanter › Stok Sayımları** (Inventory › Physical Inventory › Physical Inventories) screen, click **Yeni Sayım** (New Count).

2. Select the **Depo** (Warehouse).

3. To narrow the count, select a **Lokasyon** (Storage Location), **Kategori** (Category) and/or **ABC sınıfı** (ABC class). A field left blank means all storage locations / all products / all classes.

4. Enter an **Açıklama** (Description) and check the **Donacak kapsam** (Scope to be frozen) summary at the bottom.

   2. Location — all locations if empty
   3. Category — includes subcategories
   4. ABC class — class stored on the item
   5. Summary of the scope to freeze
   6. Start Count

5. Click **Sayımı Başlat** (Start Count).

**Result:** The count opens in **Sayımda** (Counting) status, and the balance lines with stock in the scope come in as count lines. Until the count is posted or cancelled, no deliveries, goods receipts, production or adjustments can be posted for these products. ## What you need to know

- Demo example: **SAY-2026-000001** — HAMMADDE / RAF-B · Sarf Malzemeleri (Consumables), 7 lines.
- The count date is the server's current date; there is no date field.
- A category also covers its subcategories. The ABC class is the class recorded on the card; a product without a
  class is not included in a count by class and is not frozen.
- If the scope overlaps: "Bu kapsamla çakışan açık bir sayım var: \{no\}. Aynı rafı iki sayım birden donduramaz —
  önce onu kaydedin ya da iptal edin." (There is an open count overlapping this scope: \{no\}. Two counts cannot
  freeze the same shelf at once — post or cancel that one first.)
- If there are no products with stock in the scope: "'\{yol\}' kategorisinde stok ürünü yok — sayılacak bir şey
  yok." (There are no stock products in category '\{yol\}' — there is nothing to count.)
- For regular counts, define a rule in **Dönemsel Sayım** (Cycle Count); the **Sayım Aç** (Open Count) button of a
  scope that is due opens this window pre-filled.
- The count lines are the balances **with stock** at the time of opening; goods found on the shelf but not in the
  book are added during entry with **Bulunan Ürün** (Found Product).
